Vocabulary: "yeah," "uh-huh," and "m-hm"
In everyday speaking, we say "yeah" much more often than "yes". In fact, "yeah" is TEN TIMES more common in conversation than "yes"!
So, for example:
Sheldon: So, do you like Star Wars?
Amy: Yeah, I ove it! How about you?
Sheldon Yeah, it's my favorite movie.
In conversation, we also use "uh-huh" and "m-hm" to mean "yes" and to communicate that we understand and are listening:
Kim: So yesterday I was in Yokohama...
Daniel: Uh-huh...
Kim: ...and I went to lunch at Yoshimura ramen shop. Do you know it?
Daniel: Yeah, it's great, I've been there a few times.
So, in conversation, try using "yeah" more, and "yes" less!
